Sharing God’s love with our community

“He answered their prayers because they trusted in him” 1 Chron. 5:20

This month please pray for the residents of Metcombe, Fluxton and Tipton Vale.

Heavenly Father, we give you thanks and praise for the life of our dear sister in faith, Lilian Bowden. Bless all who mourn her passing, especially her children Robert, Penny and Melanie, and her many friends. Comfort us Lord with your loving presence as we gather in Tipton Church on 11th December to celebrate at her funeral.

1st & 10th December – School & Church Christingle Services – Lord Jesus Christ, we pray that through these special services you would bless our school children and our own church family, that we may all learn more about you and come to truly know you, the light of the world, and that knowing you we might shine forth your light into a darkened world. Amen.

3rd December – Mission Community Advent Carol Service – As we gather together from across all the parishes of the Otter Vale Mission Community may we be united in our worship of God, in our desire to share the gospel and in our service to those around us.

An Advent Prayer – God for whom we watch and wait, give us courage to speak the truth, to hunger for justice, and to suffer for the cause of right, with Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lord our Creator and Father of all, we pray for all those who are ill at this time thinking especially of Daphne and Lizzi awaiting operations. Bless all who suffer at this time, along with those who serve their needs, that they may put their whole trust in you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

10th December – On UN Human Rights Day we pray that the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration would be honoured by all and available to all, including the rights to freedom of speech and worship, access to education and freedom from want & fear.

12th December – At this busy time in the life of our churches let us join with the Diocese today in praying for the Otter Vale Mission Community; our clergy: Steve Weston, Mark Ward, Leisa McGovern, Richard Allen, Ann Turner, John Pangbourne and Mac Dick; our Readers: John White, David Williamson, Ann Yates and Alan Steel; and for all who live and worship in Alfington, Colaton Raleigh, Escot, Feniton, Harpford, Newton Poppleford, Ottery St Mary, Payhembury, Tipton St John, Venn Ottery and West Hill.

17th & 20th December – Tipton & Venn Ottery Carol Services – As we come together in music and readings may our respective comm-unities unite in praise and adoration of Jesus, our Servant King.

24th December – Christmas Eve – Crib Service and Midnight Communion – Almighty God, as we prepare with joy to celebrate the gift of the Christ-child, embrace the earth with your glory and be for us a living hope in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

25th December – Christmas DayLord Jesus Christ, your birth at Bethlehem draws us to kneel in wonder at heaven touching earth: accept our heartfelt praise as we worship you, our Saviour and our eternal God. Amen.

27th December – Festival of St John the EvangelistMerciful Lord, cast your bright beams of light upon the Church: that, being enlightened by the teaching of your blessed apostle and evangelist St John, we may so walk in the light of your truth that we may at last attain to the light of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ your incarnate Son our Lord. Amen.

29th December – We join with the Diocese in praying for our bishops Robert, Nick and Sarah. May he bless them with wisdom in their leadership of his church, and we thank him for their ministry to us.

31st December – New Year’s Eve – Eternal Lord, as another year draws to a close we give you thanks for all you’ve done for us over the past 12 months. When times have been hard we thank you for sustaining us by the power of your Holy Spirit, and when times have been good we thank you for sharing in our joy. Remain with us as a New Year dawns; and help us to remain your faithful, loving servants, whatever 2018 may bring. Amen.
