 APRIL PRAYER PAGE

Sharing God's love with our community

"But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith

and pray in the Holy Spirit" Jude 20

1st April - Easter Day - Lord of all life and power, who through the mighty resurrection of your Son overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise and honour, glory and might, now and in all eternity. Amen.

We hold before God Pauline and John Belton as they mourn the passing of Pauline's mother. Rejoice with them that she died in faith - may they find comfort in the knowledge of your resurrection.

4th-15th April - Commonwealth Games - As 71 nations gather on the Australian Gold Coast may we celebrate with them at being part of this global family of 2.1 billion people. Ask God's blessing on Elizabeth our Queen giving thanks for her commitment to the Commonwealth.

7th April - World Health Day - This year's theme is: "Universal Health Coverage: everyone, everywhere". Pray that this ambitious aim to bring affordable, good quality care to all the world's people will help save lives and improve the quality of life for millions.

Lord God, whose Son, Jesus Christ, understood people's fear and pain before they spoke of them, we pray for those who are suffering in body, mind, heart or spirit, thinking especially at this time of Becky Williamson, Roger Cozens, Steve Weston and Carolyn Ward; surround the frightened with your tenderness; give strength to those in pain; hold the weak in your arms of love, and give hope and patience to those who are recovering; in His name. Amen.

Please continue to uphold our vicar, Mark, in your prayers during this challenging time while he is the only full time minister for our Mission Community and also carrying the responsibilities of Rural Dean.

This month please pray for the residents of Tipton Main Street, Chrystel Close and Barton Paddocks.

15th April - Annual Church Meeting - We give thanks for all we've been able to do as a church over the past year. Ask God to bless all those elected to serve the parish for the coming year with strength to serve him faithfully and wisdom to know his will for us. Pray too that God will show us how we can meet the financial needs of the church, to both maintain the buildings and develop our ongoing mission.

17th April - We pray for the children and staff of our village school that they may return refreshed after the Easter holiday. We also pray for all young people at school, college and university who are busy preparing for exams this term. Ask God to help them and their families to cope with the stress that this brings.

A year on from Article 50 being invoked by the UK Government we continue to pray for the ongoing Brexit negotiations. While progress has been made many obstacles still remain, not least how to handle the Irish border. Pray that the politicians and diplomats involved might seek the best interests of future generations in both the UK and Europe.

22nd April - Heavenly Father, we hold before you today your servant Leisa McGovern as she is licensed to her new parish in Freshwater, Isle of Wight. Be with her as she settles in to her new home; bless her and those she serves.

23rd April - St George's Day - God of hosts, who so kindled the flame of love in the heart of your servant George that he bore witness to the risen Lord by his life and by his death: give us the same faith and power of love
that we who rejoice in his triumphs may come to share with him the fullness of the resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We continue to pray for those serving God overseas thinking especially of Roger & Elizabeth Cozens in Kathmandu working alongside UMN (United Mission to Nepal) on education and agricultural development/climate change projects. Ask God to keep them safe as they travel and speed recovery from Roger's recent accident.

"Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you." St Augustine
