in the Parish of Tipton St. John with Venn Ottery

Sharing God’s love with our community

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Col 4:2
This month please pray for the residents of Venn Ottery Road, Venn Ottery and Southerton.
Heavenly Father, we give you thanks and praise for the life of our beloved sister in faith, Eleanor Wragg, for the warmth of her friendship and the joy in her heart. Comfort her nephew, Stephen, and all who mourn her passing as they prepare to gather to celebrate her life here at Tipton Church later this month, upholding them in your loving arms.
Father, we pray your blessing too on those who mourn the passing of Edward Twiss. Surround Mary and the family with your peace and love, especially as they celebrate his life at his funeral on 10th July. Amen.
And we continue to pray for:
- the family and friends of Dennis Burrow following his funeral last month; may God be with them as they grieve.

- Florence, baptised here in Tipton last month; ask God that, with the help of her parents, godparents and the church family here, she may grow up knowing Jesus as her saviour and friend.

The tragic fire at Grenfell Tower has shocked us all. Please pray for everyone affected – those mourning loved ones, those made homeless and those now living with the fear that their home may not be safe. Give thanks for the community response, including that of the local churches, as we pray for longer term help to soon be given to those in need.
2nd July – This Disability Sunday pray that all churches might reach out to disabled members of their community, helping them to become fully involved in the life and work of the Body of Christ.

7th – 10th July – Heavenly Father, we pray for General Synod as it meets in York. Bless all who attend with wisdom and all who speak with gracious-ness. May all the decisions they take support the spread of your gospel. Amen.

7th – 9th July – Lord of all, we give you thanks and praise as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Playing Field Association. Bless all those who have helped create and preserve this valuable community resource and be with us, Lord, as we lead the village in Songs of Praise on the Sunday morning.

9th July – On this Sea Sunday please pray for all whose working lives are spent at sea, far away from family and the support of their community, and for the work of The Mission to Seafarers as they serve their needs. Pray especially for Nathanael Scott Perry from Tipton, working on board the Operation Mobilisation ship MV Logos Hope.
Almighty God, we hold before you our nation following last month’s General Election and as the detailed negotiations of our exit from the European Union proceed in earnest. Give wisdom to our Government as it struggles to cope with challenges at home as well as managing our international relations.

12th July – We hold before God the members of the PCC as it meets today – may he grant them wisdom in the decisions they take, that they may further his kingdom here.
O Lord our Creator and Father of all, we pray for those who are ill remembering specifically Avril, Mac and Lizzi, still recovering from an operation.  Bless them, and those who serve their needs, that they may put their whole trust in you. Where it is your will bring healing, and where it is not grant the grace to endure in faith, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

26th July – Pray for God’s blessing on our school’s End of Term Service, especially for those who will be leaving to go on to secondary school. Pray that the ‘It’s Your Move’ booklet – a gift from the church to the leavers - may help them cope with the many changes they will face. Pray also for fun and safety for the children over the summer holiday that they, and the staff, may all be rested and refreshed.
Hold before God our local businesses – the shop, the garage, Angela Court, all the local farmers – and all those who work from home. Pray for commercial success and security of jobs.
