AUGUST PRAYER PAGE Sharing God’s love with our community
“He answered their prayers because they trusted in him” 1Chronicles 5:20 This month please pray for the residents of Coombe Vale, Lancercombe including Otter Close, and Sidmouth Road. We remember especially this month the family and friends of Pat Gardner whose funeral was at Tipton Church in July. May they know God’s comforting presence each day and feel surrounded by his love. Glorious Lord we pray for Mark, our Vicar, and his family as they take a break from the bustle of every day life – grant them all physical and spiritual refreshment that they may be ready once more to serve you as you wish. 6th August – The Transfiguration: Father in heaven, whose Son Jesus Christ was wonderfully transfigured before chosen witnesses upon the holy mountain, and spoke of the exodus he would accomplish at Jerusalem: give us strength so to hear his voice and bear our cross that in the world to come we may see him as he is; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen Hold before God our local businesses – the shop, the garage, Angela Court, all the local farmers – and all those who work from home. Pray for commercial success and security of jobs during this difficult time for our national economy. 8th August: Give thanks to God for those members of our congregation who lead us in worship – the Family Worship team, our choir, our readers and intercessors. May God continue to use them in his service that we all may be drawn closer to him. Lord of the church, we pray your blessing on Archbishop Rowan as he leads the worldwide Anglican Communion. Grant him wisdom as he seeks to maintain unity following the recent Synod decision to allow women bishops. Heavenly Father, we pray for all couples getting married this summer. May their love for each other continue to grow day by day – bless and protect them as they adapt to their new roles as husband and wife. 14th August: Wherever you may be please join in prayer with those gathering in our church for our monthly prayer meeting, that together in the Holy Spirit we may bring all the needs of our community and church to God. Merciful Lord we lift to you the adults and young people preparing for their confirmation in September. We thank you for their willingness to publicly declare their faith in you and ask that they may know for themselves the power of your Holy Spirit at work in their lives each and every day. Please remember all those who are sick, in body, mind or spirit at this time. Pray for God’s blessing on them and all those that care for them, and pray too for our Pastoral Visiting team as they share God’s love with them. 19th & 24th August: We bring before God those getting their A level and GCSE results on these days respectively – may they be blessed with the results they need to fulfil God’s plan for their lives. Father God we pray for everyone taking a holiday at this time that they may find wonder and joy in the places they visit and safety in travel. We ask this too for those who come to holiday in our area. Grant stamina to those busy working in the tourist industry – may they always provide a warm welcome. 30th August: Pray for God’s blessing on our church fete – for fine weather, big crowds and a truly joyous occasion where we are able to share God’s love with our village community. The fete is also our key fund-raising event of the year and the financial health of the church is dependent on a good day. Give thanks for all who have given of their time, energy and donations in support of this magnificent event. Please note that the names of individuals who need our prayer at this time are in the little note book on the back pew of Tipton Church.
